Week Two Reflection

This week we began by doing an assembly announcement for the 5K, as well as continue to let the school they can start getting their teams ready to sign up for the tournament. After we made the announcement we began to make sign up sheets for everyone as we started to need teams to be put in. We also began the week with a meeting with the business office about how to charge our players for the tournament. We initially wanted to be able to charge everyone home, but the business office said we weren't able to do that so we had to talk with them about finding a different solution. The business office was nice enough to help us through finding a way for us to charge everyone. They gave us the idea of getting an app called square, which is an app where you get a chip that you can put on your phone and swipe students cards. Then the next day we started getting students to sign up at lunch time after sending out a mass email to let everyone know they could sign up. That’s where we collected our first amounts of money. We were also able to get in touch with Jill about having our first youth team involved in the tournament. We found out we had to get Mrs. Joslin to use her bank account to set up the square account so we would be able to put all the money somewhere. After we hooked up her account with the square account we were able to get people to start paying with their card. Once we were able to get this going we saw a good increase in donations as it made it simpler for many of the students to donate now. We also met up with Jill to give her the sheets so she could finalize her team. Then continued to let the Kearsarge youth that we were looking for teams so we could have a whole youth tournament.
